Galveston Cruises – See the Caribbean Without Flying

There are a ton of benefits of cruising as we have discussed in our previous cruising blog series. One of the biggest benefits of living in Houston is we can hop right on a cruise ship and visit some amazing ports without having to fly. Galveston cruises are extremely popular for this very reason with locals. In this blog, we will be discussing the three different cruise lines that sail out of Galveston, the ports of call, itineraries, and more! If you live in Houston, or anywhere in Texas, this blog is not to be missed.

Galveston Cruises – Which Cruise Lines Sail Out of Galveston?

Galveston has 3 major cruise lines, two of which are in Galveston year-round. Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruises are here all year, with Disney Cruises here during the Winter months. Here is a quick overview of each of the ships, but continue following Fox Travel for upcoming blogs going into more detail about each cruise line out of Galveston.

Royal CaribbeanGalveston Cruises

We at Fox Travel love Royal Caribbean! It is a great cruise line that is a perfect mixture of family-friendly with enough adult activities to make you feel like your entire vacation is surrounded by kids. Royal Caribbean Galveston cruises have 4, 5,7, 9, and even 16-day sailings. Most are round trip out of Galveston, but some are not meaning you would need to either fly into or out of a different city.

Galveston is also getting 2 new Royal Caribbean ships in 2019! The Vision of the Seas is coming in March, and the Enchantment of the Seas is coming in May! Both ships are larger than the other RCCL ships that have been in Galveston before, with many more activities and dining options!

With fantastic kids’ clubs and DreamWorks characters to see, you won’t need to feel guilty dropping your kids off for some fun playtime and taking a little time for yourselves in any of the bars, casinos, lounges, spas, and more. When you want to spend time together, there is a ton to do on your days at sea like rock climbing, ice skating, swimming, surf simulator, games, events, and more. There are also the best us poker sites where one can gamble from the comfort of wherever they are.

With three different ships, 8 different itineraries, and 9 different countries to visit, Royal Caribbean Galveston cruises are a far cry from one and done, or been there done that.

Carnival CruisesGalveston Cruises

When you hear the name Carnival you automatically think of party and fun. That is exactly what this cruise line is all about! Carnival Cruises is a great option for those who want to cruise with a little lower price tag, a family cruise, a girl’s or guys’ getaway, and more. Carnival has something for everyone.

Royal Caribbean isn’t the only one that is bringing in a new ship to Galveston. The Carnival Vista is now in Galveston! With a much newer, larger ship than ever by Carnival, this is a perfect option for those looking to get away! You can also read Debbie’s blog on her experience on the Vista.

Carnival Galveston Cruises has the most extensive itineraries available out of any of the cruise lines that sail here. With 4 ships sailing year-round, 12 different itineraries, visiting over 18 different states, countries, or islands, and itineraries ranging from 4 to 14 days, you will have the Caribbean at your fingertips.

Disney Cruises

By far the most family-friendly cruise is Disney. With Disney only coming into Houston between November and January, these sailings sell out fast, so it is best to book them early. Another reason why they are such a hot commodity in Galveston is that while they are here they do their Merry Time holiday sailings with a decked-out ship and special activities only offered in November and December.

With only 5 itineraries and only 7 countries visited Disney has the least extensive itineraries for Galveston cruises. Disney also only has one ship, The Wonder, that sails out of Houston. However The Wonder has been recently renovated with new fun additions like the Marvel Super Hero Academy, Tiana’s Place, and Frozen musical spectacular, your kids will think you’re the coolest parents on the block for this family-friendly cruise! Don’t worry parents, there is a section that is adults only too, so drop your kids off and have a nice time, sans kids.

Benefits of Booking with a Travel Agent

Not only are there huge benefits of taking a Galveston cruise, like not having to fly anywhere, but there are also huge benefits of booking with a travel agent. Often we can get better deals on cruises, know when sales generally start, and can even get you ship board credits or other goodies on board. So while it may seem easy to hop online, or call a cruise directly to book something so easy out of Galveston, remember that we don’t charge to book your cruise, we look for the best deals, and can get you extra perks!
